CONDITION: VERY GOOD-. Original stapled publication has been restored (staples removed and sewn - some paper repair). Some foxing and smudges. Wear to corners, especially to advert pages at rear. A good copy of this exceedingly rare footballing item. The National Library of Scotland does not possess a copy of this work. In fact, the only other recorded copy is held by Glasgow University (read a detailed and fascinating account of the book online here). As far as I can ascertain, this is the first printed book on Scottish football, and some of the cartoons clearly show Queen's Park players (the first Scottish football club) in their famous hooped shirts. A remarkable and rare piece of ephemera with amusing poems, cartoons and a short story by Saunders Wylie, that give fascinating insight into life in Victorian Glasgow, as well as the early days of football in Scotland.
